Delivering Results for District 14
When I took office, I promised to be a hands-on Legislator who would listen to our communities and focus on practical solutions.
Since then, my team and I have worked with residents, local governments, first responders, community organizations, and partners at every level of government to bring resources home and address the issues that affect our families every day.
I am proud of the progress we have made — and I am committed to building on it.
-
I worked alongside our state and local partners to support Valley Stream's successful application for New York State's Downtown Revitalization Initiative, resulting in a $10 million investment in Valley Stream's future.
The initiative creates an opportunity to strengthen Downtown Valley Stream and areas around Rockaway Avenue and the LIRR station through investments focused on safety, walkability, infrastructure, housing opportunities, and small-business growth.
This is the kind of partnership and investment our communities deserve, and I will continue advocating for resources that help our downtowns thrive.
-
I secured unanimous approval of $291,794.64 in Community Revitalization Program funding for critical equipment upgrades for the Lynbrook Police and Fire Departments.
The funding supports new AEDs and self-contained breathing apparatus for the Lynbrook Fire Department, along with Motorola portable radios and battery chargers for the Lynbrook Police Department.
Our first responders put themselves on the line to keep us safe. Making sure they have reliable, modern equipment is an investment in both their safety and the safety of every family they serve.
-
I secured a $238,993 Community Revitalization Program grant to support an important equipment upgrade for Valley Stream Public Works.
The funding will help purchase a new Caterpillar 930 front wheel loader, strengthening the Village's ability to respond to severe weather, conduct storm cleanup, and meet other community needs.
Bringing County resources back home means giving our local governments the tools they need to serve residents effectively.
-
Flooding is not an abstract issue for many District 14 families. It can mean damaged homes, disrupted streets, and significant financial and emotional stress.
That is why I helped advance $500,000 in Nassau County capital funding for a comprehensive flood mitigation and drainage study focused on chronic flooding in District 14.
The study will examine existing drainage infrastructure and local topography to identify the causes of recurring flooding and help guide long-term solutions.
This is an important step toward improving resiliency, protecting neighborhoods, and making smarter infrastructure investments in Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Elmont, and throughout our district.
-
When families are already dealing with higher household expenses, County government should look for responsible opportunities to provide relief.
I introduced legislation that would cap the taxable price of gasoline and diesel at $3 per gallon for purposes of the County sales tax, helping protect residents from paying additional County taxes as gas prices rise.
I have continued calling for the proposal to receive a vote because residents deserve action on practical ideas that could help keep more money in their pockets.
-
Opioid settlement dollars are intended to address the devastating impact addiction has had on families and communities.
Alongside my colleagues, I demanded the restoration of $13.7 million in opioid settlement funding so these critical resources could be used for their intended purpose: fighting addiction and supporting affected communities.
Accountability matters, especially when lives and essential public-health resources are at stake.
-
Residents should have a meaningful opportunity to participate in their County government.
I opposed changes to the Legislature's committee rules that restrict when residents can provide public comment, and I have repeatedly called for those rules to be reconsidered.
Government works best when residents can ask questions, express concerns, and hold their elected representatives accountable. I will continue fighting to protect the public's voice in the legislative process.

Serving as Legislator means much more than voting in Mineola. It means bringing government directly into the communities I represent.
My team and I have held and supported town halls, mobile office hours, homeowner exemption workshops, tax grievance and homebuyer workshops, child car-seat safety events, health-related community events, and other constituent-service programs designed to connect residents with information and resources.
I have also partnered with the American Red Cross and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages to provide free smoke-detector installations for District 14 residents.
Accessibility is not a campaign promise to me. It is a fundamental part of how I believe public service should work.
-
I have supported efforts to address fees charged to Nassau homeowners at the County Clerk's office and plans to provide refunds to motorists who paid improper fees associated with red-light camera tickets.
Residents should be able to trust that County government will treat them fairly, acknowledge mistakes, and make things right when necessary.
